She chose to walk alone,
Others wondered why,
She walked with her head upwards,
Dreaming in the sky.

She had no companions,
There was no need for earthly things,
She wanted freedom,
From what she thought were simply puppet string.

She longed to be a bird,
Longed to fly away,
Felt sorry for the poor blades of grass,
Who she knew would have to stay.

Dreamed of being water,
Vapor in the air,
Envied streams who ran away,
While she simply stared.

Some say she wished too hard,
Some say she dreamt too long,
But one autumn day we rose,
Only to find that she was gone.

The trees they say stood witness,
The sky refused to tell,
But someone who had seen it,
Said that it had all played out quite well.

She spread her arms,
Breathed in the morning dawn,
She let go of all she felt,
And she was.......

Gone.
